The Ultimate Sacrifice
On reading the title many historic tales of sacrifice and renunciation strike the mind, don’t they? We, humans have a tendency to overlook the lush green grass and verdant valleys and obsess with the stars. We usually turn a blind eye to things that surround us and people who shape us.
I would not claim that my mother is “perfect”, she has her flaws like any other normal human. She’s strict like a hostel warden and an emotional fool like me. Nonetheless, her eyes can read the thoughts and intentions of people even before they originate in their mind, she prepares her hug and caressing hand even before I’m broken, the ambulance is ready even before I was made a patient.
You know how a baby cub or a little chick is scared and frightened to take decisions and mother pushes them, she took life-changing decisions for me. I am certain that she will never show an ounce of hesitation before being my voice at home, in school or before anyone in the world.
Even God himself cannot repay for her tireless days of work, sleepless nights when I was sick and tears in her eyes when she saw me sad.
“My mother is and will always be an angel upon Earth. She is a minister of blessing to all human beings within her sphere of action. Her heart is the abode of heavenly purity … She is the real personification of love, altruism (selflessness), of charity, of ever active and never intermitting benevolence.”
If the Lord was to ask me for only reason to live, I wouldn’t think twice before saying her name. I salute every single mother in the world but bow my head only to mine, without whom I would’ve never entered the world and more importantly never survived 17 years. I shared your womb, your blood, your looks, your nose and it’s a privilege if I can share even a drop of the river of kindness flowing in her heart.
A life without her in it would be worthless and better not lived.
