A Phoenix Rising from the Ashes

A Phoenix Rising from the Ashes

The story of the phoenix is a mythical tale of rebirth and renewal. Not able to relate? Don't worry! Remember Fawkes from Harry Potter? Dumbledore's phoenix, which burst into flames when it was time for it to die and was then reborn from the ashes. There are times in life when we all transform into one: facing hardships and breakdowns but overcoming them with boldness and manifesting our true mettle.   Life tests you when you already have a million things weighing you down, when you're down on your knees and about to surrender.

I won't prate on with philosophical ideas, instead let me share my personal experience. Recently, I had a breakdown where I felt I was all alone with nobody out there to help me. All tasks and activities that I had willingly chosen out of merriment started becoming a painstaking and monotonous chore, every day was tougher than the previous one. We know, when we are irritated, we tend to unleash our rage on the people around us. For some, the crankiness and annoyance reflected through each facial expression and movement is evident to all while some of us silently kill ourselves from the inside. Anything that anybody said to motivate me was in vain because I wasn't open to new ideas. I felt like giving up, it was the first time I felt worthless and helpless despite the fact that everyone around me was only trying to mitigate my pain.

Every passing day was like a glass filling with sorrow and resignation. All my smiles were outward and fake, each movement was a burden, and each action inflicted nothing but pain.

The people who loved me stood by me, they kept striving to lift me up and they didn't give up even when I did. Even today, I'm mentally and physically exhausted but the optimistic attitude which they bestowed upon me is keeping me strong to overcome this. I'm trying to cope up in these testing times and maybe so are you, but we'll make it through, together. Come on, while reading this, look at the screen and smile because I'm smiling at you too.

I reiterate, Life tests you when you already have a million things weighing you down, when you're down on your knees and about to surrender. My sincere request is don't give up, just don't, please because that is an action you'll never be able to undo and all it leaves is regret. You won't just ruin your life, you'll tarnish many others'. Do it for the ones you love, the ones who will even give up their life for you. Come on, hold that hand and keep going, you're always almost there.

Be that phoenix that rises from the ashes!
